Sunday Snippet – CROSSING THE LINE – Come Between Us
Sunday Snippet time, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
This week’s eight sentence excerpt is from CROSSING THE LINE, and follows directly after last week’s snippet. So, to refresh, Derrick and Hanna are having dinner in a small, intimate restaurant with Derrick’s best friend, Jeremy, who is joining the married couple for a very hot weekend. This scene is from Jeremy’s point of view.
Might as well share his thoughts, they’d be sharing a lot more than words later.
“I was thinking about our pact from way back—that we’d never let a woman come between us. We broke that deal today, D, literally.”
“Yeah, I guess we did.” Derrick leaned forward, one arm on the table and one beneath. A couple seconds later, Hanna’s breath hitched. “And we’re gonna break it again. Many, many times.”

Lifelong best friends Derrick and Jeremy met Hanna at a bar ten years ago. Both wanted her—one married her. Now the other man has been invited to join in for one hot weekend.
Everything would’ve been fine if they’d had their fun that weekend, then gone back to normal. But they didn’t. And when past demons resurface, things will never be the same—for any of them.

Sunday Snippet – CROSSING THE LINE – Damn Coin Toss
Thanks for stopping by to read the Sunday Snippet. Today’s eight sentence excerpt is from my November release, CROSSING THE LINE, and comes to you as part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
In this snippet, we’re with Jeremy and his friends Derrick and Hanna. They’re in an intimate restaurant at the exclusive, adults-only resort where they’re celebrating Hanna’s birthday — in a very sexy way. Derrick took his wife shopping earlier in the day, and Hanna is showing Jeremy the gifts Derrick chose for her.
“And when we got down to the beach, Derrick gave me this ring,” a soft sigh slipped from her lips, “I told him not to spend more money on me—this weekend is expensive enough—but it’s so…perfect.”
“Derrick has good taste.”
Jeremy’s buddy nodded. In thanks, sure, but more likely in acknowledgement. He’d know Jeremy’s comment had nothing to do with his choice of gifts and everything to do with the woman he’d chosen. That they’d both chosen. Damn coin toss.

Sunday Snippet – CROSSING THE LINE – Body and Soul
Sunday snippet time, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme. Where did this week go, anyway? I can’t believe it’s the middle of December, and the end of 2013, already!
This week’s eight-sentence excerpt is from CROSSING THE LINE. Last week, you got a glimpse of Derrick’s fun-loving side. This week, you get to see another part of his nature.
A wicked smile pulled his lips into a sexy curve. “I need to fuck you.”
“I need that too, let’s go.”
The slow shake of his head told her his intentions before he spoke another word. “Can’t wait. Need to be inside my wife — right now.”
The ownership in his words, in the tone of his voice and his hands on her body, gave her goose bumps. He’d shared her with Jeremy for her pleasure, but there was no mistaking who she truly belonged to, body and soul.

Here are a few of my favorite review quotes:
“…lures the reader down a path that is both erotic and disastrous…”
“…quite an emotional ride especially when Derrick’s demons came out to play. I seriously had no clue what direction this book was heading so kudos to Karla for keeping me on the edge of my seat guessing!”
“…well written, the story line was intriguing and the steam was off the charts. I’m not a fan of the ménage story lines but the synopsis got me, I needed to know what was going to happen. I’m glad I took the chance to read this it was a good read.”
“This was a perfectly satisfying read that had me heartbroken in places, swooning in places, and incredibly turned on in places.”
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ll come back next week. 🙂

Sunday Snippet – CROSSING THE LINE – Derrick and Hanna Take the Plunge
Sunday snippet time, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
I promised something sweeter this week. 😉 So, for today’s bite-sized excerpt, we’re with Derrick and Hanna from CROSSING THE LINE, as Derrick gives his wife a birthday weekend she’ll never forget. The fun begins at a small, exclusive resort’s very private pool.
In a heartbeat, Derrick scooped her into his arms, took a couple of running steps, drew up his knees and cannonballed them both into the deep end.
Water rushed into her ears, creating that distinctive sound that comes from plummeting beneath the surface, no holds barred. The way Derrick did everything. The way he made her do things—taking a risk, always enjoying the ride. Like this weekend, like this moment.
She opened her eyes underwater. Derrick was right there, little bubbles rising from his wide-mouthed grin. God, she loved him.

Sunday Snippet – Crossing the Line – To Look, or Not to Look
Welcome back for another Sunday snippet, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme. I hope all my American friends enjoyed (or are still enjoying) their Thanksgiving holiday. 🙂
Today’s eight-sentence excerpt is another from CROSSING THE LINE. This week’s snippet leans to the sexy & conflicted side. Next week, I’ll give you something sweeter. 😉
Last week, Derrick asked for his lifelong best friend’s best help giving his wife the hottest birthday present of her life — a threesome of the m/f/m variety. Jeremy urged Derrick to consider the possible consequences of his proposition. After that, Derrick handed Jeremy his cell phone, with a video cued up…
Jeremy tapped the arrow in the center of the screen. The clip started innocently enough. As innocent as it could be with Hanna wearing only those pink panties. She wasn’t covering her tits this time and they were goddamn spectacular. His mouth literally watered at the sight of them. She waved and giggled, managing to look beautiful, sexy and sweet all at once. His best friend’s wife, for crying out loud. Something he needed to remember.

Sunday Snippet – Crossing the Line – One Hell of a Favor
Welcome back for another Sunday Snippet, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
Today’s eight-sentence excerpt is from my new release, CROSSING THE LINE. Derrick and Hanna have been together ten years. Derrick and Jeremy have been friends since third grade. And Derrick just asked Jeremy to help him give Hanna a very hot birthday present.
Here’s what Jeremy had to say…
“Say you do this threesome thing. You really think that when the moment comes, pardon the pun, you’ll be okay letting somebody else touch Hanna? Watching your wife get wild with another guy? Because once it’s done, it’s done, no going back. It could fuck up your relationship permanently.”
“It won’t. Not if you’re the third.”
“I’m not sure if that’s a credit to my loyalty or an insult to my masculinity.”

Sunday Snippet – Crossing the Line – The Proposition
Sunday Snippet time, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
In previous snippets, we had a glimpse of Derrick and Hanna right before the wedding. If you want to know exactly what happened, you can read the full first chapter and find out. Today, we’re jumping ahead in time and joining Derrick and Hanna in their kitchen, where Derrick has a not-so-little proposition for his wife…
“The videos you watch, the stuff we pretend—we can do that if you want. Really do it.”
A couple of seconds ticked by before it clicked. “What…why? No, no, I don’t need that. Just you, you’re all I need.”
Ah, there it was, the importance of a single word. She didn’t need to be with two men at once, but she hadn’t said she didn’t want to be.
Intrigued? I have good news — you can buy CROSSING THE LINE and read the whole book!
