Sunday Snippet — ICING ON THE CAKE — The Number to Beat
Welcome back for another Sunday snippet from ICING ON THE CAKE. After some hot-and-heavy messing around in the parking lot outside their siblings’ wedding reception, Curtis and Sara are on their way to his hotel room.
“I am not cute,” she said. “If you think I’m cute, I’d love to see the women you normally take home.”
“You got jealous when I danced with somebody at the reception, but you’d like a visual of the women who’ve come before you—literally.”
“I did not get jealous. Jealousy is for women who want long-term exclusivity and commitment.” She unbuckled her seat belt and moved as close as the bucket seats and gear shift allowed, then slid her hand over his thigh and squeezed. “All I want from you is a record-setting number of orgasms.”
“What’s the number to beat?”
“Depends—who you want to compete with, a human, or my vibrator?”
ICING ON THE CAKE is Book 2 in the Close to Home series but can be read as a standalone.

ICING ON THE CAKE
Close to Home series — Book 2
Nia and Conn’s wedding will be fairytale perfect…if their siblings can get along.
Free-spirited, anti-establishment Sara has always been on the outside of her family’s fairytale mold. Now she’s being forced smack into the middle of it at her sister Nia’s wedding. Alongside the cocky and annoyingly sexy best man—Conn’s cop brother.
Curtis doesn’t buy in to organized romance and fairytales. But for his brother, he’ll throw on a tux and fake it for a few hours. His flak vest would have been a better choice around the maid of honor. He should have brought his handcuffs too, because somebody needs to restrain the dark-haired spitfire—and he’s just the man for the job.
One night to indulge the spark between them, then goodbye—that was the agreement. Curtis isn’t looking for a relationship and he sure doesn’t want a troublemaker for a girlfriend. The last thing Sara needs in her daily life is a cop looking over her shoulder, no matter how hot he is.
But giving in to their chemistry is much more fun than giving it up…

I like her confidence! What a way to get him off the subject of cute.

Speak up. Don’t be so shy! She’s a pistol and I love her.

I absolutely love the way these two talk to each other and so amusing they think this is a one time thing. Great excerpt!

I’ve always liked a shy heroine. Oh, wait a minute! I’ve always like a heroine who know her own mind. Er, body.

Hi Karla. Good snippet. they’re getting right to the business of it. Honesty is the best policy, right? Then everyone knows what they’re after. 🙂
The date is wrong on your snippet. When the moderator checked it, however, she thought that she hadn’t seen this snippet before, and all of the comments on it were from today.
Normally, we’d have deleted your sign up link–as a no-show. But the mods thought it might be a new snippet with an incorrect date. I don’t think to check the date on mine, but after seeing your snippet today, I will be sure to. I’d hate to have my link deleted because my blogger platform posted a wrong date.

Few people want to be called ‘cute.’ Even if they are.
