Sunday Snippet – BODY OF WORK – Decision
Welcome back for another Sunday Snippet, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
This week’s eight-sentence excerpt is from early in the first chapter of BODY OF WORK. I loved writing this book! If you like a bossy-yet-sweet alpha male — Brian Black is your man. A heroine who embraces her sexuality, and a forbidden romance — check and check. Lots of hot sex — oh hell yeah. So let’s get started. š
Brian rolled to a stop on Sloane Street. He killed the engine and stared through the rain-covered window of his Jeep at the white bungalow. If he did this, if he knocked on Cassieās door at a quarter to one in the morning, thereād be no going back.
A man could only take so much. The petite brunette had caught his eye from day one. Sheād been torturing him for monthsāchatting, teasing him with comments that made her blush, openly flirting with him while she exercised. Heād have made his move immediately if not for his stupid contract.
Which led him back to the decision at handāto knock on her door or drive away?
Blurb
Cassie has fantasized about the ginger-haired personal trainer for months. Brian is friendly, but never moreāuntil he appears on her doorstep and shows her how much her flirting has affected him. The more sheās with him, the more Cassie wants the fairytale, not just hot sex with the six-two hunk. She can give Brian full access to her body, but after her exās reaction to her explicit photography business, sharing her secrets, and her heart, isnāt an option.
Brian knows better than to break the rules. Donāt date gym members. Keep his inner beast on a leash during sex. Cassie tested his resolve on number one her first day in the gym. Shattered the second rule when he touched her. The petite pixie shares his preferences in the bedroom. She makes him laugh and loveābut past mistakes haunt him, emotionally and tangibly. Cassieās worth the price heāll pay for breaking the rules. Now he must convince her to give him her heart.

Some Ginger Love from Scandalicous Book Reviews
It’s not unusual for my cell phone to start dinging with messages the second I drop my kids at school, but today I got one from Mandy, the awesome blogger/reviewer behind Straight Shootin’ Book Reviews, congratulating me on making it on to Scandalicious Book Reviews. I had no idea what she was talking about until I clicked over and saw this totally awesome shout-out and review of BODY OF WORK. What a woohoo! way to start the day!
I love Brian Black pretty hard myself, so it makes me all giddy when other people do, too.
BODY OF WORK was one of three Ellora’s Cave books mentioned as Nikki’s favorites, so I’m extra honored to be included in the post. Head over to Scandalicious to see her other picks.

Sunday Snippet – MORE THAN WORDS – Mystery Girl
Sunday Snippet time once again, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
Today I’m sharing a bite from MORE THAN WORDS, known by many as “the dirty Scrabble book”, which is now available in paperback edition as well as e-book!
MORE THAN WORDS is the story of Travis and Calli, who meet playing anonymous, online Scrabble on an adults-only, chat-based gaming website. Travis went there looking for a woman who would be interested in his mind instead of his rockstar exterior. Calli went there because connecting with somebody in real life is, in her mind, a physical impossibility.
In this snippet, Travis is reflecting on his first game with C Ya (Calli’s gaming handle), which included a lot of very flirty banter in the chat window.
The question he couldnāt shake was why some faceless female on a geeky game site had gotten to him. Women threw themselves at him all the timeāyoung ones, old ones, and an incredible amount of smoking-hot ones. Even small-time musicians got laid a lot, freely and without any expectation of commitment. A perk of the job, until it grew old. Now he couldnāt stop thinking about C Ya, wondering exactly what she looked like, where she lived, if she walked around wearing lingerie just for the hell of being sexy. For all he knew, she wasnāt even a she. He ought to give his fucking head a shake.

Blurb
Their online games turn into games of the heart.
A brutal mugging two years ago left Calli terrified to go out after dark, and incapable of real dating. Hanging out with a resentful Chihuahua every night hasnāt filled the void, and all the sex toys from the store she owns could never replace a flesh-and-blood man. An online Scrabble site promising anonymous, flirty fun sounds like just the ticket. A like-minded geek, thatās what she needs. Unbeknownst to her, the man on the other end of the game is anything but geeky.
Tired of the party scene, Travis seeks a venue where he can meet a woman who is drawn to his mind, not his profession. Having women chase after his bad-boy musician persona has grown stale. After heating up the tiles online with Calli, he knows he must meet her in person. Touch her in person. And when he does, their chemistry is undeniable. She stimulates him, mind and body. But when he discovers her tragic past he realizes it will take more than words to win her heartā¦and her trust.

Sunday Snippet – CROSSING THE LINE – Reprieve
Today’s Sunday Snippet is dirty. There, you’ve been warned. Or promised, however you choose to look at it. Ā š
Make you sure you check out the other offerings from the Weekend Writing Warriors, too, some of which will also be dirty. I know this, because I read their books. Now, on to the snippet.
This is a tiny morsel from CROSSING THE LINE, a married couple mĆ©nage story (among other things). In case you haven’t been following along, or read the book (and if that’s the case, why ever not?), Derrick and Hanna are married, Jeremy is Derrick’s lifelong best friend, and he’s joining in for one very hot weekend.Hanna’s hands landed on his hips. Electricity rocketed through Jeremy’s body at the first touch of her lips on his shaft. He wanted to look. To watch his cock disappear into her mouth. But it was too much, too hot.
āNow do Derrick.ā The command rasped out. And thank god she obeyed, because he needed the reprieve.
Want some more? You can pick CROSSING THE LINE up for $2.99 at all the major online retailers.

Sunday Snippet – CROSSING THE LINE – Come Between Us
Sunday Snippet time, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
This week’s eight sentence excerpt is from CROSSING THE LINE, and follows directly after last week’s snippet. So, to refresh, Derrick and Hanna are having dinner in a small, intimate restaurant with Derrick’s best friend, Jeremy, who is joining the married couple for a very hot weekend. This scene is from Jeremy’s point of view.
Might as well share his thoughts, theyād be sharing a lot more than words later.
āI was thinking about our pact from way backāthat weād never let a woman come between us. We broke that deal today, D, literally.ā
āYeah, I guess we did.ā Derrick leaned forward, one arm on the table and one beneath. A couple seconds later, Hannaās breath hitched. āAnd weāre gonna break it again. Many, many times.ā

Sunday Snippet – CROSSING THE LINE – Damn Coin Toss
Thanks for stopping by to read the Sunday Snippet. Today’s eight sentence excerpt is from my November release, CROSSING THE LINE, and comes to you as part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
In this snippet, we’re with Jeremy and his friends Derrick and Hanna. They’re in an intimate restaurant at the exclusive, adults-only resort where they’re celebrating Hanna’s birthday — in a very sexy way. Derrick took his wife shopping earlier in the day, and Hanna is showing Jeremy the gifts Derrick chose for her.
āAnd when we got down to the beach, Derrick gave me this ring,ā a soft sigh slipped from her lips, āI told him not to spend more money on meāthis weekend is expensive enoughābut itās soā¦perfect.ā
āDerrick has good taste.ā
Jeremy’s buddy nodded. In thanks, sure, but more likely in acknowledgement. Heād know Jeremyās comment had nothing to do with his choice of gifts and everything to do with the woman heād chosen. That theyād both chosen. Damn coin toss.

Sunday Snippet – CROSSING THE LINE – Body and Soul
Sunday snippet time, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme. Where did this week go, anyway? I can’t believe it’s the middle of December, and the end of 2013, already!
This week’s eight-sentence excerpt is from CROSSING THE LINE. Last week, you got a glimpse of Derrick’s fun-loving side. This week, you get to see another part of his nature.
A wicked smile pulled his lips into a sexy curve. āI need to fuck you.ā
āI need that too, letās go.ā
The slow shake of his head told her his intentions before he spoke another word. āCanāt wait. Need to be inside my wife — right now.ā
The ownership in his words, in the tone of his voice and his hands on her body, gave her goose bumps. Heād shared her with Jeremy for her pleasure, but there was no mistaking who she truly belonged to, body and soul.

“…well written, the story line was intriguing and the steam was off the charts.Ā I’m not a fan of the mĆ©nage story lines but the synopsis got me, I needed to know what was going to happen. I’m glad I took the chance to read this it was a good read.”
“This was a perfectly satisfying read that had me heartbroken in places, swooning in places, and incredibly turned on in places.”

Sunday Snippet – CROSSING THE LINE – Derrick and Hanna Take the Plunge
Sunday snippet time, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
I promised something sweeter this week. š So, for today’s bite-sized excerpt, we’re with Derrick and Hanna from CROSSING THE LINE, as Derrick gives his wife a birthday weekend she’ll never forget. The fun begins at a small, exclusive resort’s very private pool.
In a heartbeat, Derrick scooped her into his arms, took a couple of running steps, drew up his knees and cannonballed them both into the deep end.
Water rushed into her ears, creating that distinctive sound that comes from plummeting beneath the surface, no holds barred. The way Derrick did everything. The way he made her do thingsātaking a risk, always enjoying the ride. Like this weekend, like this moment.
She opened her eyes underwater. Derrick was right there, little bubbles rising from his wide-mouthed grin. God, she loved him.
