Sunday Snippet—GAME PLAN—The Toys Are Coming Out
Happy Sunday! Today is a special day, because it’s the 3rd anniversary of my first pubished book. My debut novel, GAME PLAN, released February 15, 2012. The publisher has recently dropped the price on this book, so if you haven’t picked it up already, now’s a perfect time.
GAME PLAN is an older woman/younger man erotic romance. Andie, a 40-year-old divorced mom of a tween, meets Mason when he “accidentally” hits her with a baseball while warming up for a game. Here’s an eight-sentence snippet from their first meeting…
After inspecting her toes and her injured ankle a couple minutes more, he met her eyes again. “I’ve gotta go, I’m playing on the other diamond and my game is about to start. But you should call me later—for ibuprofen, cold packs, a foot rub, whatever you need—I deliver, 24/7.”
“A foot rub…are you a registered massage therapist or something?”
“Strictly amateur. But I do more than feet, and I guarantee satisfaction.”
Well that about sealed it. The toys were coming out tonight—the big ones.
Don’t forget to check out the other Weekend Writing Warriors‘ offerings.
GAME PLAN
Recently divorced after seventeen years with a snooty, uptight, controlling man, forty-year-old Andie is definitely ready for some casual, sexy fun when a hot younger man “accidentally” hits her with a baseball. Mason’s interest is clear and he looks like a lot more fun than her overworked vibrator collection, so she goes for it, despite the obvious age gap. The young veterinarian is as easy to be with as he is on the eyes, making him an ideal summer diversion and the perfect man to help her make up for lost time and missed orgasms.
Mason had to meet the sexy woman at the ball diamond. The chemistry between them is instant and completely addictive. Andie is more than beautiful, she’s uninhibited and independent—totally unlike the needy twenty-somethings he’s been dating since his ex-fiancée deceived him five years ago. And yeah, Andie is ten years older than him, big deal. The more they’re together, the more his heart wants her as badly as his cock. Too bad Andie isn’t playing for keeps.

Spotlight at Straight Shootin’ Book Review
So there’s a relatively new book blog in town, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, I recommend you rectify that. Not only because its lovely owner is doing a spotlight on my books, plus a fun Q&A (though you should go check that out, of course 😉 ), but because her reviews are fun to read, she often has giveaways and posts other cool stuff, too.

Sunday Snippet – Game Plan
Since tomorrow is Canada Day, I’m pulling eight sentences from GAME PLAN. There’s an integral scene in Game Plan that occurs on Canada Day, as the hero takes the heroine to meet his friends and family for the first time, at his family’s annual barbecue bash. Andie’s nervous, so to distract her as they’re making their entrance, Mason has this to say to her…
“All right, here’s one thing I’ve been thinking about all week — you, naked on your stomach, hands stretched above your head while I do a dot-to-dot using your freckles and my tongue. I’m gonna start with the one under your left ear.”
“Where’s the last dot?”
The squeaky gate drew attention. At least half a dozen pairs of eyes zoned in on their next move. He smiled at their audience, lowered his head to whisper in her ear, “Are you aware of the little mole you have down low in the crack of your ass?”
She turned her head to face him, wide-eyed. Yeah, she knew exactly where he planned to put his tongue.

Eight Sunday-02/17/2013
Thanks for visiting! Today’s eight-sentence snippet is part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme. Click over for a complete list of participants.
Since February 15th was my publishing anniversary (there’s a giveaway if you follow that link), I’m sharing eight from my first novel, GAME PLAN.
Oh, the nervousness and agony of a first date, especially when you’re forty and the man beside you is…significantly less.
“I’m older than you,” she blurted.
“I’m taller than you.”
“I have a twelve-year-old son.”
“I have a one-eyed cat.”
“You’re just making fun of me now. Your cat has nothing to do with this,” she said, motioning between them.
“Neither do the other things. None of them affect how well we’ll match up.”

Publication Anniversary! with Prizes!
February 15th. One year ago, my first book was published. GAME PLAN, a 78k contemporary erotic romance released in digital format from Ellora’s Cave.
Mind if I bore you for a few minutes? Then I’ll get to the giveaway details, because I know that’s why you’re really here. 😉
Here’s the history behind my debut novel:
Early in 2011, I applied for a conference grant to attend RWA National in NYC. I rewrote that single-page letter so many times. Mailed it off and forgot about it, believing I didn’t have a hope in hell of scoring such an opportunity.
In April, my husband chased me (as I walked down the street with my dog) to hand me the phone. One of the nice ladies from the RWA office was calling — out of hundreds of applicants, my letter had been chosen for a grant — 1 of just 7 awarded. I’d never been to a conference, nor spoken face to face with another writer. I had two small kids and I’d never spent a single night away from them. And I was going to NYC to mingle with over 2,000 publishing types.
Since fate had decided I should take writing seriously, I stepped waaay out of my introverted comfort zone. I booked a pitch appointment with an editor for Ellora’s Cave…for a book I hadn’t finished writing. Call that ‘mistake’ number one. Since I already followed her on Twitter, I DM’d her that I’d booked an appointment with her. Newbie mistake number two? Probably. But she was very friendly and chatted to me about EC and the conference. Eventually, I stopped hyperventilating.
Until she sent me a message. It popped up while I was out walking my dog. (Note: great things happen while walking the dog!) The message contained four simple words. “What do you write?”
After sweetly chastising me for not having any samples of my writing on my website, she invited me to send her the first chapter of my (unfinished, ack!) book. About a month later, she requested the full (as soon as I finished writing it…).
That same opening chapter won the LERA contest in the erotic category, and a second editor requested the full. Shock. I had it.
I accepted a contract with Ellora’s Cave, and my fabulous editor, Grace Bradley, in November of 2011.
GAME PLAN was the second book I completed, but it was the first I submitted, ever, anywhere. Because I’m a chicken, and have tendencies toward self-sabotage. Mostly because I’m a chicken. From here out, I will try to keep my chicken on the dinner table. 🙂
So, that’s how I got published! To celebrate, there has to be a prize, right? Enter by leaving a comment here (any comment will do), or tweeting this post (make sure to tag me in it, so I enter it in the draw), or sharing this post on Facebook (ditto with the tagging thing).
In honor of multiples (the standard for erotic romance heroines), the winner will have their choice of the following prize options:
1. A $10 gift card for your choice of Ellora’s Cave, Amazon, Kobo, or Nook. (International)
2. A trade paperback copy of GAME PLAN (Canada & US only)
3. A digital copy of either GAME PLAN or MORE THAN WORDS, plus, my favorite chocolate bar in the whole world, which should come with a mouthgasm warning, it’s that good. (Canada & US only — for the chocolate bar portion)
Giveway closes Sunday, February 17th at 11:59 p.m.
Winner will be announced & notified on Monday, February 18th.
