Sunday Snippet-Body of Work
Welcome. đ Today’s bite-sized excerpt is from BODY OF WORK, and is part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
This snippet finds Brian at Cassie’s house for a dinner date…only they’re not thinking about food, unless you consider catnip salad?Â
âYouâre like catnip. I want to rub my body against you and purr.â
âI donât have a problem with that.â His fingertips slid under the hemline of her top. âI like it when you purr.â
âWhat about when I scratch?â She raked her fingernails upward, through his hair. âOr bite?â
Cassie has fantasized about the ginger-haired personal trainer for months. Brian is friendly, but never moreâuntil he appears on her doorstep and shows her how much her flirting has affected him. The more sheâs with him, the more Cassie wants the fairytale, not just hot sex with the six-two hunk. She can give Brian full access to her body, but after her exâs reaction to her explicit photography business, sharing her secrets, and her heart, isnât an option.
Brian knows better than to break the rules. Donât date gym members. Keep his inner beast on a leash during sex. Cassie tested his resolve on number one her first day in the gym. Shattered the second rule when he touched her. The petite pixie shares his preferences in the bedroom. She makes him laugh and loveâbut past mistakes haunt him, emotionally and tangibly. Cassieâs worth the price heâll pay for breaking the rules. Now he must convince her to give him her heart.

Sunday Snippet-Body of Work
Sunday Snippet time, courtesy of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
This week’s bite-sized excerpt is from BODY OF WORK, my new release featuring a 6’2″ ginger-haired personal trainer hero. He also moonlights as a bouncer at a bar, which is where this scene with the heroine takes place.
Cupping her tiny waist, he lifted her from the spot, took a few steps to the right and deposited her on the floor. âStay.â
Sneaky little pixie darted around him and plastered her back against the damn door. âIâm not your pet.â
He crowded her. Curled his fingers under her choker-style necklace and tipped her face up. âIf you were, youâd be better trained.â
Add this yummy, ginger alpha male to your Goodreads shelf, or pick him up from your favorite e-book retailer.
Thanks for stopping by!

It’s June! How did this happen? đ
Thanks for stopping by to check out my Sunday snippet. This excerpt is from my May release, BODY OF WORK, and comes to you via the Weekend Warrior Writers.
She handed the bartender the cash and lifted the glass. The aromas of sugar and alcohol filled her nose. She believed him that itâd taste good, but she bet the innocent-looking concoction still held the power to numb her face. âItâs really pretty, what is it?â
âLoch Ness Monster.â
âOoh, sounds dangerous — should I be scared?â
Another laugh as he placed her change on the bar. âOnly if you have multiple sightings.â
Yup, that’s a real drink. Here’s how you make it:
In a glass, layer equal quantities of melon liqueur, Bailey’s Irish Cream, and Jägermeister, in that order. Then, bottoms up!

Sunday Snippet-Body of Work
Welcome! Click here if you’re looking for the Wet & Wild Hop.
Today’s Sunday Snippet comes from my May release, BODY OF WORK, and is part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
The heroine, Cassie, is a photographer. In this snippet, she’s getting ready to shoot a couple of her repeat clients, Paolo and Beth. I hope this excerpt makes you curious about Cassie’s photography business, and well, the rest of the book, too! đ
Paolo was a demanding partner, sexually — unyielding and rough at times. Through it all, his complete adoration of Beth was more obvious than the sun on the most brilliant summer day. And it went both ways. Cassie had shot her share of engagement and wedding photos, pictures of couples allegedly at the pinnacle of true love. None of those brides or brides-to-be compared to the depth of emotion Cassie saw in Bethâs eyes. Every time Paolo reddened Bethâs porcelain skin with his palm, paddle or teeth, Cassie saw Bethâs love for him ratchet higher. She gave what he wanted. He took what she needed him to take.

Wet and Wild Blog Hop
Welcome to the Wet & Wild Blog Hop! Thank you to our lovely hostess, Skye Warren, for organizing another awesome event.
One of my favorite reasons for writing stories that take place during the summer months is sex. Indoor sex can be smokin’ hot, no question, but outdoor sex offers so many variables and possibilities. Add the risk of being caught that comes with ‘doing it’ (whatever the ‘it’ may be) in a less-than-private location, and outdoor sex becomes hotter than hot.
My debut novel, GAME PLAN, is set in the summer months. Mason and Andie have sexual encounters in a downtown alley, the front seat of a pickup truck while parked in front of a store, while waiting in a long drive-thru line, and later, in the back of that truck.
My newest release, BODY OF WORK, also has a summer setting, and Brian and Cassie definitely take advantage of the warm weather. They make excellent use of a park pavilion and a sugar maple tree in Cassie’s yard.
Here’s an excerpt from BODY OF WORK featuring that sugar maple tree…
His fingers curled around her waist. He used his power and size to back her up to the maple before sheâd registered their first step. âTake your pants down to the knees.â
âI guess thatâs a yes to my terms.â
No acknowledgement, unless a raised eyebrow counted. Intensity and amusement played across his face. He released her to cross his arms over his chest, making muscles bulge and pop out all over the place. Half a foot separated them, enough space for her to move away if thatâs what she wanted. Maybe he was testing her. Bossing her around to see if sheâd change her mind.
âIâd suggest we shake on our agreement, but I donât think my old patio set can take the kind of strain we put on that picnic table in the pavilion.â
âHow about this tree, think it can take it?â His hand thudded against the trunk. He kept his eyes locked on hers as he ran his palm up and down the old maple, skimming the side of her body along the way. âWhat about you? This barkâs pretty roughâitâs going to hurt when it digs into your soft skin, and it will dig in, because if youâre brave enough to take those pants down, Iâm going to let the brute fuck you any way he likes.â
Her cheeks burned. She shifted foot to foot, acutely aware of the satin teasing her nipples, the tight jeans pressing against her clit. âIâm ready for him.â
His jaw ticked and his eyes darkened. âThen get those pants down, now.â
She scrambled to obey, fingers trembling as they fumbled with the buckle. The wide belt had been a chore to fit through the belt loops and the stiff leather made undoing it harder yet. âNew belt, it needs breaking in.â
âIâll keep that in mind.â One corner of his mouth liftedâfrom reading her mind, no doubtâwhen her hands froze in their efforts. âHere. Let me.â
She nodded, swallowing a mouthful of cotton as he took over the job. But he didnât pull the strip of leather free of the belt loops. Didnât order her to bend over so he could use it to paint stripes on her ass. He just separated the metal buckle from the opposite end, one-handed her button open and slid the zipper down, all without looking away from her face.
âTake off your bra.â
âOkay.â Hands shaking, she reached around for the clasp. Then the hem of her t-shirt.
âJust the bra. Keep the shirt on.â
She slid the straps down her arms, clearing each wrist in a wholly unsexy manner, then pulled the white satin bust-enhancer out of one sleeve. âAnd there goes my artificial cleavage.â
âYouâve got something betterâperfect nipples. I like seeing them poke through your shirt. Like at the gym when you wear that light-purple tank top, or the white one. Those tops donât hide much. Did you know your nipples get hard when youâre working out?â
âReallyâŚI had no idea.â Batted eyelashes, along with feigned innocence, did the trick. The sound that came from his chest was part chuckle, part growl. And oh god, was it hot.
Beneath the thin red fabric her nipples tightened. Like a good hussy, she arched her back to make their condition more visible. Her breath caught when he lowered his head. The words bite me hovered on the tip of her tongue. All that came out of her mouth was a choked cry of frustration as he grazed the cloth-covered nubs in passing.
He crouched before her, his mouth level with her open zipper. âPants are coming down now. Last chance to get away.â Above him, she shook her head. âNo? Good.â He gathered her jeans, belt and panties in his fists and pulled the lot down to her knees a heck of a lot easier than the skintight jeans had gone up. âNo,â he said when she lifted one leg to step out of her pants. âThis is where they stay.â
âBut I wonât be able to open my legs,â she wiggled in demonstration, âor move.â
âI know.â His smile bordered on feral. He grabbed both ends of her belt and yanked, squeezing her legs closer together, then fastened the buckle above her knees. âComfortable?â

Sunday Snippet-Body of Work
This Sunday’s eight sentences are from my new release, BODY OF WORK, and part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
In this snippet, Cassie has arrived at the gym and she’s walking through the parking lot.
She spied Brianâs dark-green Jeep near the door. Due to last nightâs storm, the top was up and the doors in place. Not the norm. The man preferred it stripped to the bare bones, a deathtrap on four thick wheels. Sheâd only seen him driving it one time, but the image was a keeper. Ginger-haired lumberjack of a man with one hand on the wheel, one hand on the roll bar overhead, his left foot sticking out the doorless gap as he peeled into the lot. A manâs vehicle had never done much for her until the day she saw Brian in this Jeep. Consider her among the converted.
Can you picture him? I hope so!
BODY OF WORK is now available from Amazon, Kobo, All Romance, Ellora’s Cave.
Thanks for visiting. Have a great day đ

Sunday Snippet – 05/12/2013 – Body of Work
⼠Happy Mother’s Day âĽ
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read this week’s snippet from my new release, BODY OF WORK. Today’s eight-sentence excerpt is part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme — click over for the full list of participants.
In this scene, Brian and Cassie are in her bedroom, ‘together’ together for the first time. They’ve agreed to swap evidence of their mutual attraction, which, to this point, neither had acted on. It’s Cassie’s turn to â˛fess up.
âââ
âI took your picture at the gym — with my phone — more than one picture, actually.â
A massive grin spread across his face. âYou really are sneaky. What did you do with the pictures?â
Oh, the usual, propped the phone against her pillow and looked at them while masturbating. âNothing.â She sounded like a woman whoâd crossed the desert without a drop to drink.
âIâd like to see that.â

First Reviews Are In…Yay!
Having a new book out in the world is a nail-biting time. Has it hit all the major e-tailers yet? Is anybody buying it? Will people love it…or hate it? It’s enough to make an author (at least this one) go a little bit bonkers.
But, the first few reviews are in for BODY OF WORK, and I’m so thrilled, I keep reading them over and over.
There’s this awesome one from Nina of Nina’s Literary Escape. (Click the link to read the full review.)
“In the end, reading Body of Work was a total enjoyment for me. Readers looking for a hot book with explosive sex, a sexy six-foot-two ginger-haired alpha hero, and a fun & flirty story, Body of Work is the book for you.”
And this one from MaggieReadsRom. (Click the link to read the full review.)
“I really enjoyed Karla Doyle’s third book. I was expecting Cassie and Brian and their story to be just as good as the other books and I am happy to report it was. It was definitely hotter than the other books (this is always a good thing) and with every book Doyle’s writing is getting even better.
What doesn’t change is the playful, humorous voice that comes through via her characters and their interactions.”Thank you, Nina and Maggie, for taking the time to read and review BODY OF WORK, and for the huge smiles you gave me!
