Sunday Snippet-Watch Out for the Whisky
Sunday Snippet time! Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to check out all the offerings on the Weekend Writing Warriors page.
Here’s eight sentences from BODY OF WORK. Cassie and Brian are having dinner at his parents’ house — her first time meeting his very Scottish family. (This section of the book is one of my favorites. đ )
âYou okay?â he asked, his close, softly spoken words tickling her ear. âDadâs whiskyâs strong stuff, careful it doesnât sneak up on you.â
âToo late,â she said on a giggle. âYouâre going to have to drive.â
âNot a problem, Iâll even put the doors on so you donât fall out.â
She leaned into his shoulder and whispered, âI wasnât referring to the Jeep.â
Brian’s dad snorted and pushed back from the table.
Okay, so maybe she hadnât quite whispered…oops.

Sunday Snippet-Body of Work
It’s Sunday Snippet time, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme. (It’s also a day where I beg for your help in a contest, so please read the bottom of the post.)
Today’s eight sentences are from BODY OF WORK. Cassie and Brian are at his parents’ home for dinner, and he’s taken her up to his childhood bedroom to ‘show her his trophies’. Ahem.
“Wow, this room is all bed.” She pushed down on the mattress, a cheeky smile tipping her lips. “Ever sneak girls up here to try it out?”
“Don’t I wish. You met the people downstairs, right? Even if I’d managed to get somebody past the guards,” he tossed a nod toward the door, “there’s no lock. They’re all about full disclosure. Made jerking off an adventure, never knowing who might open the damn door.”
If you liked that snippet, there’s a larger excerpt from that scene on the Scorching Book Reviews site. It’s part of Nix’s “Sex Scene Championship” and if you have a couple minutes to pop over there and vote for Brian & Cassie, I know they’d appreciate it! (So would I!)
Thanks for stopping by. I hope to see you next week. đ

Sunday Snippet – WIP – Sam’s Book
It’s Sunday Snippet time, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme. Thanks for stopping here, and make sure you click that pic to see the full list of this week’s participating writers.
This week, I’m posting from one of my WIPs. I’ve been bouncing around between a few of them this summer, and this week I’m back to working on Sam & Leigh’s story. Sam is the hero’s best buddy in BODY OF WORK, a 28-year-old personal trainer at his friend’s brand-new gym. Leigh is a 42-year-old former client from his previous workplace.
In this snippet from the opening pages, they’ve bumped into each other in a downtown coffee shop. It’s been a couple months since Sam changed jobs and they haven’t seen each other since. Leigh has succumbed to his charm and joined him at a table. (The first line of dialogue is hers, and this excerpt is in her POV.)
âAre you trying to lure me away from Iron Works to Focus Fitness…is that ethical?â
Strong yet gentle fingers removed one of her hands from its death-grip on the cup and pulled it toward him, halfway across the table. He pressed a card to her palm. Continued holding her hand, stroking his thumb over her skin while smiling. âIf it works, I donât give a shit about ethics.â
âAnything to snag a client?â Oh god, her voice — hopefully heâd missed the breathy quality so evident to her ears, simply from his hand touching hers.
âI donât need another client, Leigh.â
And that’s it for now. (Remember, that’s an unpolished snippet up there!) I’m enjoying spending more time with Sam (the charmer, who wouldn’t?), and Leigh is turning out to be a really strong heroine. She’s going to have to be… I have some twists in store for these two. đ

Sunday Snippet – Romance Is Dangerous – Body of Work
Sunday snippet time, part of the Weekend Writing Warriors eight-sentence meme.
This week finds us with Cassie and Brian from BODY OF WORK, with Cassie giving the sweet-talking hero her thoughts on romance…
“You have something against romance?” he asked.
“Yes, actually, I do. Romance is dangerous. And when you talk to me that way, I want more days like this. Making dinner together and endless sex and other dangerously romantic stuff. I am a woman, you know.”
His head lifted enough for her to see the twinkle in his eyes. “Oh, I did notice — though I’m always up for a refresher course of that fact.”

Sunday Snippet-Body of Work
Thanks for stopping by to read my Sunday Snippet. We’re still hanging out with Brian and Cassie from BODY OF WORK. In this little scene, Brian, the 6’2″ hero, is reaching around Cassie. That’s all the setup you should need. đ
“Long arms for the win,” he said as her eyes tracked his movement.
“I like that you’re big.” A pink blush flooded her cheeks. “I didn’t mean your — you know.”
Both of them looked down at his you know.
“Not big enough?” As if commanded, his cock stood a little taller. Good boy.

Sunday Snippet – Body of Work
Time for eight very sexy sentences!
Today’s excerpt is from BODY OF WORK, and comes to you as part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme. Make sure you check out the list of participating authors, and thank you so much for stopping here. đ
On to the snippet. What woman wouldn’t like to hear a speech like this one, from Brian to Cassie…
â„ââ„
“Give me a taste of rough and raw and I have to fight not to get lost in it, to give in to my possessiveness. And it’s so fucking strong with you. If I had my way, I’d tattoo my name on your pretty little body as a warning to anybody who dared look too closely, and a reminder to you exactly where you belong. Then I’d keep you so incredibly well-fucked you wouldn’t have the time or energy to look at another man.”
At some point during his speech, her bones must’ve dissolved, because she’d utterly melted against his big, hard body. “Stay.”
“There’s more.”
“I don’t care — tell me after I’m so well-fucked the only thing I can do is lie there and listen.”

Sunday Snippet – Game Plan
Since tomorrow is Canada Day, I’m pulling eight sentences from GAME PLAN. There’s an integral scene in Game Plan that occurs on Canada Day, as the hero takes the heroine to meet his friends and family for the first time, at his family’s annual barbecue bash. Andie’s nervous, so to distract her as they’re making their entrance, Mason has this to say to her…
“All right, here’s one thing I’ve been thinking about all week — you, naked on your stomach, hands stretched above your head while I do a dot-to-dot using your freckles and my tongue. I’m gonna start with the one under your left ear.”
“Where’s the last dot?”
The squeaky gate drew attention. At least half a dozen pairs of eyes zoned in on their next move. He smiled at their audience, lowered his head to whisper in her ear, “Are you aware of the little mole you have down low in the crack of your ass?”
She turned her head to face him, wide-eyed. Yeah, she knew exactly where he planned to put his tongue.

Have a great Sunday, and to all my fellow Canucks, Happy Canada Day on Monday!

Sunday Snippet – Body of Work
It’s summer here! Finally! Today’s Sunday snippet is from BODY OF WORK, and comes to you as part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme. It’s summer where Brian and Cassie are, too. In this excerpt, they’re in her backyard, attempting to have a dinner date, but Cassie’s barbeque has just died a spectacular death on her patio, and she’s agreed to let him get rid of the debris for her.
And, here we go, with the snippet. Take it away, Brian…
“Anything else I can take care of?”
She tapped a finger on his chest and tried not to giggle. Or give too much credence to his offer, tempting as it was to picture him as the man of her house. “Do you do yard work?”
“I do.” A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. The wind that followed set fire to her panties. “But I know for a fact you don’t have a bush that needs trimming.”

Sunday Snippet-Body of Work
Welcome. đ Today’s bite-sized excerpt is from BODY OF WORK, and is part of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
This snippet finds Brian at Cassie’s house for a dinner date…only they’re not thinking about food, unless you consider catnip salad?Â
âYouâre like catnip. I want to rub my body against you and purr.â
âI donât have a problem with that.â His fingertips slid under the hemline of her top. âI like it when you purr.â
âWhat about when I scratch?â She raked her fingernails upward, through his hair. âOr bite?â
Cassie has fantasized about the ginger-haired personal trainer for months. Brian is friendly, but never moreâuntil he appears on her doorstep and shows her how much her flirting has affected him. The more sheâs with him, the more Cassie wants the fairytale, not just hot sex with the six-two hunk. She can give Brian full access to her body, but after her exâs reaction to her explicit photography business, sharing her secrets, and her heart, isnât an option.
Brian knows better than to break the rules. Donât date gym members. Keep his inner beast on a leash during sex. Cassie tested his resolve on number one her first day in the gym. Shattered the second rule when he touched her. The petite pixie shares his preferences in the bedroom. She makes him laugh and loveâbut past mistakes haunt him, emotionally and tangibly. Cassieâs worth the price heâll pay for breaking the rules. Now he must convince her to give him her heart.

Sunday Snippet-Body of Work
Sunday Snippet time, courtesy of the Weekend Writing Warriors meme.
This week’s bite-sized excerpt is from BODY OF WORK, my new release featuring a 6’2″ ginger-haired personal trainer hero. He also moonlights as a bouncer at a bar, which is where this scene with the heroine takes place.
Cupping her tiny waist, he lifted her from the spot, took a few steps to the right and deposited her on the floor. âStay.â
Sneaky little pixie darted around him and plastered her back against the damn door. âIâm not your pet.â
He crowded her. Curled his fingers under her choker-style necklace and tipped her face up. âIf you were, youâd be better trained.â
Add this yummy, ginger alpha male to your Goodreads shelf, or pick him up from your favorite e-book retailer.
